Blackuary Fourteen - Old School Bombers

On this day in 1965, Malcolm X's house was fire-bombed by those peaceful Muslims in the Nation of Islam. Let's look at the man behind the mystery.

Malcolm Little was born on May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. His father was a huge supporter of a guy named Marcus Garvey. If you want to know anything about Garvey, you are going to have to find it yourself, this post is trashing Malcolm Little.

Because Malcolm's father was a fan of Garvey, he was killed. Malcolm's mother cracked up and Malcolm and his siblings were sent to foster homes.

A high school dropout in his teens, Malcolm turned to a life of crime. After getting busted for burglary in 1946, he spent the next six years in prison. He converted to Islam while incarcerated. When he was released, he threw away his family name because he thought it to be a slave name. Tee-tee on your grave, father.

Elijah Muhammad, the leader of the Nation of Islam, took this violent criminal into his fold and made him a minister. Malcolm was a very charismatic speaker and many Blacks begin to drop out of the Civil Rights Movement and started to follow the teachings of uber-violent Nation of Islam.

After Malcolm became so recognizable plus ratted Muhammad out for sleeping with six different women (contrary to Islamic Law, which no one in the Muslim power circles follow), Elijah got his feelings hurt and began a campaign of retaliation against Malcolm.

After Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, Malcolm said, "This is another instance of the chickens coming home to roost." Muhammad silenced Malcolm for ninety days and Malcolm quit the Nation of Islam and formed the more violent Muslim Mosque, Inc.

According to legend, Malcolm took his pilgrimage to Mecca in April of 1964 and came back a changed man. He then firmly believed that white and black Muslims could co-exist. However, he continued to preach Black Nationalism to his followers.

On February 14, 1965, his house was fire-bombed by those kissy-face Muslims in the Nation of Islam. No one was injured, but just seven days later, he was killed while on stage at the Manhattan Audubon Ballroom.

His popularity had not increased and he was basically forgotten until Spike Lee put out the 1992 movie "Malcolm X". Most people thought that it was true, but like most Hollywood vehicles, it was blatantly false.

Oh, and today is the Catholic Feast Day of Saint Valentine.

Linked to Basil's Valentine Celebration, maybe he'll let it stay linked.
