I have decided to follow a player from UGA this year in a Heisman Watch. Since we have reduced the Heisman to the level of the Nobel Peace Prize, you should know about someone that is going to be overlooked in the Heisman race, much like anyone that saved Jewish babies in WWII was overlooked in lieu of a moron that made a romantic comedy about the beach for the Nobel Peace Prize.
This is
Sean Marino, a running back from the University of Georgia at Athens. He is a twenty-one (21) year old sophomore from Belford, New Jersey. His last year's stats were as follows: 248 carries for 1334 yards and fourteen touchdowns with an average of 5.4 yards per carry. He also caught 20 balls for 253 yards, averaging 12.7 yards per catch.
In other words, last year
Sean's stats were comparable to the stats compiled by Jerious Norwood during his senior year at MSU. You just have to do the calculations for the UGA v. MSU Bulldog inflation variable to understand my point. "I personally believe that Jerious would have won the Heisman had he played anywhere other than MSU, including the Southern California Community College at Los Angeles. Most US Americans don't have maps."
In the game against Georgia Southern yesterday,
Sean had 8 carries for 59 yards, averaging 7.4 yards per carry and scored 3 touchdowns. He also caught 2 balls for 53 yards. His pace looks really good.
Please take the time to comment.
(No, Knowshon Moreno looks strangely like a young Herschel Walker.)
